Here is the tutorial for the awesome farmhouse table Jeff created. Remember the raised gardens Jeff built and then destroyed to build the deck? Well, he reused the cedar planks from the planters to make this table. Those planks originally were from a storage shed Jeff took down in our backyard a long time ago, so these planks are actually being reused twice. How's that for being green?
*correction here. Your joists shoul dbe screwed in at 25 inches on center. So the center of your joist should be at 25 inches. Your last one will be short, but that's ok.
You will likely have to cut down your last row of planks like we did.

Very cool! Where did you acquire the accompanying chairs? And are the chairs weatherproof, too?
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, We were lucky enough to already have the chairs. We got them from a family friend. They are not weather proofed yet, so that is something we need to consider, but they have been living outside (under a covered patio) for 2 years and seem to be doing fine. We don't get a lot of rain here in so ca, so we are kinda hoping for the best at this point :)

ReplyDeleteThe table IS fantastic, but the thing I appreciated most about this post was the tip to use scrap wood to keep the corners squared. Manalive! I could've used that tip about two workbenches ago, but thankfully, I found it BEFORE starting our dining table. Also? That idea of using fence posts for legs? That is just PURE GENIUS. Seriously, SO CLEVER.
