21 weeks and we have a name!

21 Weeks!

I'm more than half way there!  Woohoo!  I can't wait to meet this little girl!  Jeff and I have known what her first name will be for a while.  We considered this name for Wesley if he were to be a girl, and when we found out we were expecting again, we decided we still liked the name.  We had some discussion about the middle name but settled on the one we had first come up with.

So Ladies and Gentlemen, her name will be Hattie Jane.  Hattie after her great great grandmother, and Jane after her great grandmother.  I love family names!  Wesley has two family names as well, Wesley was his great grandfather and Carter is Jeff's mom's maiden name.

Both Jeff and I are blessed with great families with long legacies of strong Christian men and women.  We can't wait to tell Wesley and Hattie about why we chose their names.

Tri Tip with Lemon Pepper Brussels

We had a delicious and healthy meal last week thanks to Jeff's grilling skills and Pinterest. :)

Jeff and I have actually been trying to change our eating habits (like a lot) by excluding simple carbs (Jeff excludes all carbs), sweets, and dairy (except I get a pregnancy allowance of dairy).  We have been at this healthy eating for about 2 months now and it can be so difficult at times to come up with meal ideas, especially when all I know how to cook are pastas and rice dishes!  A meal just doesn't seem complete without bread, or pasta, or rice, but this meal left us satisfied and wanting nothing.  And that's saying a lot for a girl who had her first brussels sprout in her late 20s.

I first saw this recipe on Pinterest for Lemon Parmesan Brussels Sprouts from Sugar and Grace.  I thought it looked delicious, but sadly I did not have any Parmesan (not to mention, its not on the no dairy diet) or actual garlic cloves.  So I tweaked the recipe a little by adding garlic salt and some dried garlic cloves,  I also added lemon pepper instead of regular pepper to give it a little kick.

I thought they turned out great.  I even got Wesley to eat one. only one.

Jeff grilled up some Tri Tip using a dry rub to season it.  To find out how Jeff makes the perfect trip tip go HERE.

I added a little strawberry salad (aka, strawberries cut up), and dinner was served.

Now its your turn to share your favorite healthy meal with me!

My take on Word Art

I completed this "art piece" a while back and never posted it.  I was inspired by all the word art out there on Pinterest and came up with this:

I used Jeff's favorite Scripture, Psalm 139, a piece of plywood, my circut for cutting the letters out, contact paper, and paint. I basically made my own letter stickers by cutting out contact paper.  Then I just stuck the letters on my plywood and painted over it.  I began by spray painting it white and then added additional colors to create a soft water colorish effect.  I then pulled the stickers off and waala! Totally easy (but timely) project that anyone can do.

20 weeks and its a......

Girl! Holy smokes, we were so shocked to find out we are having a girl!  Both Jeff and I come from families of boys and I suppose we just assumed we would have another boy.  I'm not quite sure what I'll do with a little girl, having only 3 brother's and 3 nephews, but I'm excited to figure it out.  This little girl is going to be so spoiled!

Daddy's Little Helper

Wesley's favorite thing these days is working with daddy.  He loves helping daddy out and is quite proficient in labeling tools.  Hammer, screwdriver, pliers, saw, wrench...he knows them all.  He's making daddy proud.

Wesley's cute shirt is from H&M.  Please ignore the bare feet on in the construction zone.

BTW, Jeff finished the plumbing on Monday!  Update coming soon.

Jeff made Smoked Brisket...Yum!

Jeff bought a smoker a while back and this weekend he tried his hand at some brisket.  It turned out delish and we had a nice backyard bbq...Texas style.
