My take on Word Art

I completed this "art piece" a while back and never posted it.  I was inspired by all the word art out there on Pinterest and came up with this:

I used Jeff's favorite Scripture, Psalm 139, a piece of plywood, my circut for cutting the letters out, contact paper, and paint. I basically made my own letter stickers by cutting out contact paper.  Then I just stuck the letters on my plywood and painted over it.  I began by spray painting it white and then added additional colors to create a soft water colorish effect.  I then pulled the stickers off and waala! Totally easy (but timely) project that anyone can do.

20 weeks and its a......

Girl! Holy smokes, we were so shocked to find out we are having a girl!  Both Jeff and I come from families of boys and I suppose we just assumed we would have another boy.  I'm not quite sure what I'll do with a little girl, having only 3 brother's and 3 nephews, but I'm excited to figure it out.  This little girl is going to be so spoiled!

Daddy's Little Helper

Wesley's favorite thing these days is working with daddy.  He loves helping daddy out and is quite proficient in labeling tools.  Hammer, screwdriver, pliers, saw, wrench...he knows them all.  He's making daddy proud.

Wesley's cute shirt is from H&M.  Please ignore the bare feet on in the construction zone.

BTW, Jeff finished the plumbing on Monday!  Update coming soon.

Jeff made Smoked Brisket...Yum!

Jeff bought a smoker a while back and this weekend he tried his hand at some brisket.  It turned out delish and we had a nice backyard bbq...Texas style.

Beach Day!

We've been enjoying some great weather so Wesley and I had a mommy and me beach trip.  Wesley pretty much asks us every day to go to the beach, so I thought I would finally take him.  He loved playing in the freezing cold water and getting warm in the hot sand.  He loves the beach as much as his mommy does.  I love it.

Building a Master Bathroom part 1

So Jeff has been busy building a master bathroom!  Our tiny house has one small bathroom that just isn't cutting it.  We had been wanting to add a second bathroom since we moved in, but could quite figure out where to place it.  Then Jeff had the brilliant idea of replacing the walk-in master closet with a bathroom.  It sounds crazy at first, but the closet was huge and not built very well.  We had constant mold issues because the framing was built directly on the ground.  The closet addition also covered up the only window in Wesley's room, so that was an issue as well.  So the new bathroom will be a little smaller than the previous closet so that Wesley can have a window, and it will be built the right way (at least we hope).

Jeff is planning to do everything on his own including the plumbing and electrical (with the help of a few friends that can fit under the house). He is currently in the plumbing stage after demolition, foundation building, and framing.  Once the plumbing is complete, it will really start to take shape.

Here is what it looks like right now.

This is what it looked like outside before the demolition took place:

The whole area behind this wall was our master closet.  What are doing for a closet now?  Welp, Jeff already took care of that.  I'll post about our new closet soon.

And here ia a digital mock up of the general layout for the bathroom.  It will be tight, but I think it fits with the size of our house. And a small bathroom is better than no bathroom, right?

We're Pregnant!

The suspicion of many is right...we are expecting baby number two and couldn't be more excited! we are due on our 6 year anniversary, September 9th, and find out the gender on Monday!  I feel like I've "popped" this weeks, so thought it was time to start taking some pictures.  I hardly took any with Wesley, so hopefully I can be better at documenting this pregnancy.  Who doesn't love belly pics right?!

Well hello there!

SO I've been joking the last few months that this blog has died, but today I'm bringing back to life!!!  So much has happend over the last several months and I finally feel like I'm in a good place to start posting again.

Jeff and I have some exciting things to share with you in our personal and home improvement lives, so I felt it right to start blogging again.  I also found that I am not very productive (in a crafty way) when not held accountable by this blog.  So here I go again.

I'm gonna ease my way back to blogging with this simple post about a trip to a nearby park where Wesley got to feed some ducks! We discovered this park about five minutes from our house where you feel like you are back in nature.  Like there isnt a freeway less than a 1/2 mile away (which there is).  They have free fishing instruction for kids on sundays and piles of bread for kids (and adults) to feed the ducks and geese.  Wesley loved it!

Our big boy is now 22 months!  Wow, how did that happen.  He will be two in just 2 short months.  He is talking up a storm and throwing tantrums like a real toddler.  Here is a little video of him feeding the ducks.

For those of you in San Diego, this is at Chollas Park near the College Grove shopping center. Its not the nicest park, but I always envisioned it to be much more ghetto than it really is. They have a nice walking loop and the kids will love all the ducks!
